#135: Green Spot

Writer's picture: S&PS&P

Onto review number 2 for the evening. This is only our second Irish Whiskey review, and we look forward to more.

Green Spot, 40% ABV, $90 CAD, Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. No age statement.

We sniff around:

It's sweet.

Simon says malty oaky.

We cheers.

Sean says it's smooth, sweet, easy drinking.

Simon gets a vanilla nailpolish note. Little spicy.

Kyle points to nice mouthfeel. Not much of a finish.

Reading the tasting notes on the back of the bottle, cloves is good.

This is a freshly cracked bottle that may have been sitting for a few years. Simon and Scott got to try this from a different bottle recently that had very distinct bubble gum notes on the nose and palate. They're not finding this here sadly.

Reviews: Sean starts us off. He likes the flavors and the feel. This is a good whiskey, he goes 81. Simon's at 73. He's not getting a ton out of this glass, but this isn't his first experience with Green Spot and he's taking that into consideration. It may be that there are significant batch differences. Scott goes 74, same comment as Simon regarding the bubble gum. That said, it's sweet and nice. Trevor says this is enjoyable and smooth, not a ton going on but 78 for him. For Kyle it's the mouthfeel that sticks out, but otherwise it's nice and unremarkable. 78 as well. We average out to 76.8.

Overall: We may have to try this again. As it is we didn't find enough to recommend this bottle, but Simon and Scott have had a handful of drinks from another bottle that was significantly more interesting. We'll be on the lookout for the other Spots!

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
