#140: Wild Turkey 101

Writer's picture: S&PS&P

Our 8th review tonight! It's the first time in 2 years all 5 crew members are sitting in person, so we're making the best of it!

Wild Turkey 101. Kentucky Bourbon. 50.5% ABV. $40 CAD.

We sniff around:

Simon gets a lot of corn and cinnamon

Not as fruity as the Old Tub we just reviewed.

We cheers.

We disagree whether it's soft or biting.

Simon still goes for his sweet/corny cinnamon.

Trevor pulls a bit of cherry.

Scott gets a slight toffee note.

Reviews: Scott's bottle so he starts us off. He lands on 78. It's got a good feel. Corny, cherry, nothing too special. Sean puts this at 73. He thinks it's pretty average. Nothing wrong with it. Trevor gets good bourbon notes, good feel, 79 for him. Kyle loves all the Wild Turkeys. He'd pick up the Rare Breed over this one, but it's a good bourbon. 79. Simon agrees that Rare Breed is a solid notch better but it's also 50% more expensive. He likes it but he was hoping to find the dusty note he loves in the Rare Breed. 74 for him. Averages out to 76.6.

Overall: This does great on value. For $40 (the cheapest bottle we've reviewed so far) you get something that delivers solid bourbon flavors and feels good. It won't be our go to and we won't push people in this direction, but we may very well pick it up again if we go to the store for a bourbon refill and it happens to be staring at us.

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
