Simon here with the last but not least whisky from Craft Cellars' Whisky Explorations Tasting Part 1.
Bowmore 25: 43% ABV, $465 CAD, bourbon and sherry casks, Islay single malt.
Sniffing her:
Algea bloom sea water, red wine, dry earth, funky apples, old butterscotch, sweet mildew.
Cheers!
Prunes, smoked figs, fruity butterscotch, big turk, pinch of salt. The finish is very mild and short but I get a bit of leather (dry oakiness) and a tiny bit of that prune that sticks around.
Review/Overall: This is pretty unique and very tasty. The whole Bowmore core range is super well done in my opinion. Every scotch for the No. 1 all the way to the 12-15-18-25 has it's own place in the lineup and is very tasty. If money was no object I would have this on my shelf. The finish is the lackluster part here, it peters out pretty fast with nothing too special to it. But the nose and palate play together well. Was expecting something raunchy and Laphroaigish from the nose, and then I got something a lot more sweet and refined on the palate. Stamping an 90 on this one.
Cheers!
Simon from S&P.
