#189: Buffalo Trace Bourbon

Writer's picture: S&PS&P

Scott bought himself a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon and shared some with the crew. See our thoughts below.

Buffalo Trace Bourbon: 45% abv, $42 CAD, Kentucky Straight Bourbon.

We sniff around:

Scott starts with vanilla.

Smooth nose.

Trevor gets cherries and oak.

Kyle goes for raisins.

Simon gets cinnamon corn. Little oak, little cherry, little vanilla. Well balanced.

We cheers.

Trevor says the oak pops right away.

Scott gets a candy note, like Starburst.

Kyle likes that, goes for Life Savers.

Simon is still tasting cinnamon corn. Little oak/vanilla/cherry. Copy paste from the nose. Long finish, nice buttery feel.

Reviews: Scott starts us off at 79. It's good but pretty standard. Typical nice flavors. Decent value, but for a few bucks more you can get some much better stuff. Kyle goes 72. Just a standard bourbon. It's good but won't end up on his shelf. Trevor goes 77. Same opinion. Simon lands on 75. All around solid bourbon, feels good, well balanced and good range of standard flavors. Averages out to 75.8.

Overall: This is good stuff, you'll never see us refuse a drink, we might order it at a bar depending on selection, but it doesn't look like it will land on anyone's shelves. We'd point you to other similarly priced options from Larceny, Old Forester, or Knob Creek.

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
