Michter's Small Batch Bourbon

Writer's picture: S&PS&P

3rd out of 10 reviews tonight as we get together for a BBQ and split our 5th round of scotches. This is technically a re-review for this website as Simon solo reviewed this in a Michter's tasting a couple months back. So it won't count towards our growing number but you get to see a few more of us' opinion.

Michter's Small Batch Bourbon. 45.7% ABV. $86 CAD. Kentucky Bourbon.

We sniff around:

Simon starts us off with toasty cinnamon.

Kyle goes a ripe banana. Banana bread.

Scott gets a red fruit, maybe a cherry. Black cherry. Blackberry. Some spice. Chili powder maybe?

It's got that corny smell too.

We cheers.

Kyle gets a sweet candy right away.

Scott goes for penny candies, red feet. Big foots. Sweet fruit.

Nice spice that sticks around.

Scott pulls some caramel. Simon goes for toasty vanilla caramel.

Kyle's aftertaste is like he ate too much candy, like you feel like your teeth are rotting... in a good way though...

Reviews: Simon's bottle. Loves the toasty notes, good complexity, good feel. This is an 80 for him. Scott goes 85. He thinks this is fantastic. Kyle matches that 85, something he will look for as well. Trevor goes 86. It's expensive for a bourbon but he'll make some room on his shelf. There's so much going on and it's constantly interesting. Averages out to 84.

Overall: This does very well on the value scale (86) and we recommend you try it out! It's got a good balance of bourbon flavors, and solid punch, and a fun nose. Check check check.

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
