And our last review for this evening of 4 whiskies and friends on a windy night and on the eve of the government making it illegal for us to get together anytime soon (once again). Thank you André (Simon's father) for this sample. Also our first bourbon review on S&P!

Old Forester 1920, 115 proof, $75 CAD in Ontario.

We sniff around.

Simon: For me this bourbon takes cherry and oak and dials it up to 2000.

Scott: Yea there's a strong cherry note. I smell red.

Kyle: Some Twizzlers.

Trevor: I like that it's 3-4 good solid balanced notes.

We cheers.

Kyle: Oof.

Simon: 115 proof :)

Trevor: I really get the red liquorish and some kind of maple.

Simon: Yes there's a very bright cherry.

Scott: There's so much cherry it's in different forms. Jams, pies, ripe cherries. The oak is really powerful too. It's really nice, there's something else... Small sips go far with this.

Trevor: This is so thick on the glass. Syruppy cherry.

Scott: This put hair on your chest. Gets the testosterone going.

Ratings: Trevor starts us off with 86. The nose is consistent, it's not hiding, it is what it is. Taste is warm, cherry/oak, pleasant, it's a mans drink. Kyle is going 89 on this one. Kyle wants this on his shelf all the time. He could have it on any occasion, every night if he wanted to. He could have it coming home from work, after shoveling... anytime. Simon likes this a lot, not sure if he's not as much of a bourbon guy, or whether the boys just don't have their bourbon tastebuds expanded. He thinks this is great, but he also thinks it gets outshone by other options around the same pricepoint like a lot of Booker's expressions. Nevertheless solid dram, nails the cherry and the oak and it's delicious. Stamps an 80 on it. Scott puts this at 85. He doesn't have a ton of experience with bourbon, but this is fantastic. It's unapologetically so good at what it does. Like ''we're going to do cherry oak so well, here's what we are, here's what you're going to taste, and we're going to blow your mind with it.''

Overall: The S&P crew recommends this. You get great value, full potent flavors, and a bold tasty bourbon.

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
