Talisker 25y distilled 1980 57.2%
👃🏻 very nice. Salty apples. Like think an orchard by the sea. Fallen apples. Touch of caramel after a bit. Old oak.
👅 🤤🤤 mouth wartering, salty fallen apples, salted apple pie, salted caramel apple pie. Yea its pretty sweet, much sweeter than the other ones. Super easy drinking but still got oomph. Nice feel. Yea I mean so good, and different from the others. Delicious stuff 92/93.
Talisker 25y distilled 1981 56.9%
Nose is awesome classic coastal talisker nose. The palate is a bit hot. Its good but not super well balanced like i would expect the 25s to be. 87
Talisker 25y distilled 1982 58.1%
👃🏻 briny lemons.
👅 super thick. Hmm deliciousssssss. Its like lemon dessert, with salt. Like salty lemon meringue. Hmmm this is insanely good. 96.
Talisker 25y distilled 1983 54.2%
👃🏻 very tropical. Mangoes, pineapple. Salty, oaky. Little citrus. Little pinesol
👅 its very nice. Little tropical, little gasoline, little herbal, little spicy, decent body. Salty. Lemon. Coastal. Bitter woody on the finish. Yea this is very nice. Lots of complexity. Very fun dram. 93.
Talisker 30y distilled in 1976 51.9%
👃 doesn’t smell like much mildly coastal
👅 omfg. Massive tropical bomb with a beautiful coastal finish. Omgggg this is insanely good. This is hard to rate but its crazy good 95/96.
Well there you go haha. I’ve had the 1984 25y too which was also stellar, 93 points. The 30y from 1979 is one of the best scotches I’ve ever had, on par with 1982 25y. Since 2015 tho they’ve been bottling these at the typical 45.8% and although those are still very tasty, they’re a solid notch below the old cask strength releases.
Cheers!! Simon from S&P
