Good morning everyone! Simon here from S&P. I got a chance to review the Octomore 13.X line up recently and thought I'd share my thoughts.
Octomore 13.1 59.2%
Nose: Citrus, almond skin, burnt wood, hay.
Palate: Surprisingly thick. Savory sweet hay. Sugary. Salty. Yea this is a great Octomore, mouth watering. Nutty. 93.
Octomore 13.2 58.3%
Nose: It's got a fresh varnished wood note that's nice but also old furnituse. Pot pourri. Used furniture store. Rye-ish notes.
Palate: Yea same thing. Varnished wood mixed with old wood. There's a brazil nut note. Salty. Pot Pourri. OK. I don't actually like this that much, and it's probably my least favorite Octo of all time BUT I can appreciate this is completely different than any Octomores I've ever had. Let's check the finish here I bet it's Palo Cortado. Ah well ok, it's just Oloroso. Some funky Oloroso casks. 83.
Octomore 13.3 61.1%
Nose: Big hay, slightly burnt. Love these .3 aromas. Burnt oak. Salt.
Palate: Fermented lemons. Burnt oak. Salt. Savory. Yum. Pretty classic .3. 91.
Overall: 13.1 is the standout here. Honestly the 12 series was wayyy better. Not going to be picking up any of them this year personally but if you must definitely go for the 13.1.
Cheers!
Simon from S&P.
