June 21st 2020. Another day in the weeks that make up the months that make up the years that make up the centuries. Another day that counts, because we count the days and look forward to these fleeting moments that we snatch with our tongues. To savor is to save time; to keep time in our memories' pockets.

Today we dig into a scotch none of us has ever heard of, but that henceforth we will likely never forget. Today we dig into -- Glendronach 12.

A reminder for those reading through, this blog is by amateurs for amateurs, a more down to earth and relatable experience than the high flung expert tastings we commonly find online and on the back of bottles. Something you can rely on to make decisions about which scotch you want in your cabinet.

This is Sean Laffan's pick. To join him are Kyle Rasksen, Scott Van Schyndel, Trevor Wallace, and Simon Savard. Andy Plomp is drinking some Miller Light.

No one is too impressed with this scotch on the nose. Kyle is alone is smelling banana. Simon smells something metallic, along with an apple or pear sweetness. Everyone follows suit for the apple. Scott picks up some nuts. Trevor mentions vanilla which a few of us agree.

On the taste-buds we all get a warming spice, very easy drinking, dangerously so Trevor and Scott say. The apples really come through. Everyone settles on the sweet and spicy, no peat or smoke.

Another thing we all settle on is the pleasant mouth feel, full and oily, spreads and hugs your tongue warmly. You could call this scotch a tongue blanket.

This is a Highland scotch.

Simon compares this to a tamed Glenfiddich XX, with the same flavor profile but more enjoyable and less harsh. Scott doesn't see the comparison.

The Scotch & Ponder crew is loving this one. We've got Trevor, Scott, Kyle and Sean all agreeing they would purchase another bottle with 80, 86, 84, and 80 ratings respectively. Simon is less of a sweet tooth but certainly enjoying this and gives it 74. Averages out to a 80.8.

At $80C, this is one of our highest valued bottle. We highly recommend this one.

Cheers!

The S&P Crew.
