Johnnie Walker Black Label

Do other people ponder about lost possibilities? What if what if what if. All the alternate lives at our fingertips. I could be so many things right now if only I'd have started at 15. There's something a little poisonous there but it's fun too if you don't take it too seriously. So many things imposed on us against our will have shaped us. People we've met randomly that are now close friends. But there's things we've exposed ourselves to as well; we're not entirely pawns. And I don't know for you but whisky is something I exposed myself to, and I'm sure I'm not alone in having as my initial exposure the scotch we're reviewing today: Johnnie Walker Black Label.

Not a great nose on this scotch. It's a little malty. Simon points to an off-note, a light acetone. Kyle points to the mild vanilla that clearly stands out.

We cheers. (Sean got a little ahead of himself, shame on him).

Scott points to the mouth enveloping smoke. Everyone agrees on this.

It's a little sweet, a little malty. Very nice balance of flavors. Mild heat.

Nice mouthfeel, mild finish.

Simon is a fan.

Ratings:

Simon starts us off. He loves the balance here and the way the smoke hits. The nose is disappointing but this is his first love. He goes 74. Scott does enjoy it, but it's more of an everyday drink, it is balanced but nothing is pronounced and the flavors are a little vague. He goes 62. Kyle goes 70, enjoys it but wouldn't bother with a bottle. Sean goes 66. Bowmore 12 does everything Johnnie Walker Black does and then some, so it's good but there are better options at the same price point. We average out to 68 on this one.

Our average rating is 72.57. Outside of Simon who will always go back to Black Label, it's unlikely you will find this on anyone's shelf.

Cheers!
