Reviews #294-297: ArteNOM Seleccion Series

Writer's picture: S&PS&P

Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2024 brings in progress to whatever projects you've got going on. We've got some serious things brewing at S&P but I'll wait a little bit for the announcement.

I've been getting more and more into Mexican spirits over the last year or so, especially Mezcal, so you'll start seeing more and more of these. Last year was a trip to Scotland, I think a trip to Mexico is certainly in the plans for this year to Oaxaca or thereabouts. Hope you enjoy!

Tequila ArteNOM 1579 G4 blanco 40.7%

👃🏻 floral, grassy, dry, pickley.

👅 great feel, grassy, bbq notes, savory, salty. Wow thats crazy good some floral notes mixed up in there too. 90.

Tequila ArteNOM blanco 1123 cascahuin 43%

👃🏻 bright lemongrass, lime, salty, smells like an all in one tequila shot haha oooh theres a vanilla waffle note that comes out after. Never smelled this in tequila.

👅 hmm salty waffles. Little citrus. Vanilla. Dry finish. Interesting. Very cool, but idk that its tasty. 81.

Tequila ArteNOM 1414 repo 41.2%

👃🏻 rosemary honey. Marshmallow.

👅 citrus marshmallow salty. Slight oaky bitterness. This is really nice and unlike any tequila ive had. I didnt love the sweet notes in the blanco but in the repo its nicer. 86/87.

Tequila ArteNOM 1146 (don fulano) anejo 41.3%

👃🏻 theres a puky note haha. And honey.

👅 thankfully no puky notes. Its kind of a mess tho. Some bitter oak notes, some sweet agave syrup notes. Maybe even a touch of puky. Idk this just doesn’t work sadly. 70.

Overall:

Love the G4 bottling. This is my first time trying anything from this distillery but I’ve got a handful of samples stashed around somewhere that I’ll bring to the top of my list now.

Cheers!!

Simon from S&P
